In the old days (4 years ago) there was a summer kitchen through this doorway. Then we tore it down and there was outside through this doorway. Then it was winter and to keep from freezing to death I boarded up and insulated this doorway.

After a couple years of this I decided we really needed to be able to use this doorway because it would come in handy to get to the deck on the other side. Previously, the quickest way to get to the deck was out the side door, through the porch, down the steps, and around the shed.

The new door brings a lot of light into the kitchen and takes some getting used to. I find myself staring out into the backyard now, watching the squirrels and other goings on that I’ve been missing.
