You are going to put something there other than jack posts in the long term, right?

Because those are, you know, jacks, not permanent structural members. Particularly in a (damp?) basement, the threads can rust out, or they can just shift and fail suddenly and spectacularly.

Please tell be you are building some more permanent pillars.
